As the country’s first bank, Kapital Bank has joined the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. On November 5, 2024, a memorandum was signed between Farid Huseynov, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Kapital Bank, and Samir Mammadov, Country Head of the UN Global Compact in Azerbaijan.

The memorandum facilitates international recognition of Kapital Bank’s sustainable development efforts and aligns the bank’s long-term strategy with global standards. In his address, Farid Huseynov highlighted, “Kapital Bank has always prioritized principles such as human rights protection, labor standards, environmental conservation, and anti-corruption within our operations. With the memorandum we signed today, we officially affirm our commitment to these principles. For us, joining the UN Global Compact network is not just a responsibility; it is a step to further strengthen the values we uphold daily.”

Samir Mammadov commended Kapital Bank’s participation in global initiatives. “Kapital Bank’s leadership in this process will make a significant contribution to promoting sustainable and responsible banking standards both domestically and internationally. This partnership confirms your commitment to global values and responsible business principles. It is also crucial for the long-term development of Azerbaijan’s economy.”

Taking place amid the Year of Solidarity for a Green World and on the eve of the COP29 climate conference, this partnership holds substantial importance at both the national and global levels.
